KAITRUST GAV Global AI Product & Service Verification

Frequently asked questions

The domestic confirmation is free. Why pay for a pre-assessment?
The domestic confirmation review is indeed free. What GAV's Domestic-Ready track provides is not a filing service but readiness before you file: an in-depth pre-assessment mapped item-by-item to the published domestic criteria, detection of contradictions between your documents, item-level guidance on what to correct, and an export structured as a domestic application package. It is for companies to whom the time lost to a supplementary round — up to 30 days for the supplement and up to 15 more for the decision — matters. Completing GAV does not guarantee any outcome in the statutory scheme.
What is the relationship between GAV and the domestic confirmation scheme?
There is none in a formal sense, and we state that plainly. GAV is a private, voluntary verification issued by KAITRUST. The statutory scheme under Korea's AI Framework Act is operated separately via aiverify.kr. GAV is not affiliated with it, is not a government certification, and is not a legal conformity assessment under any jurisdiction, including the EU AI Act. What GAV does do is assess against criteria aligned with the published confirmation criteria, so that the work is not wasted.
How long does verification take?
Document review begins once the application is complete and payment is confirmed. Where documents are complete and evidence is sufficient, verification is completed without a supplementary round. Where a supplementary round is needed, the timeline depends on how quickly the requested material is returned. Indicative timelines are given at the point of receipt.
What happens if the product does not pass?
One supplementary round and one re-review are included at no additional charge. You receive item-level guidance on what fell short and how to correct it, and you resubmit. If the product still does not meet the criteria after the re-review, the report is issued with the findings — the diagnostic value of the report does not depend on the outcome.
We already hold a domestic confirmation certificate. Are we exempt?
No — GAV is a separate verification and there is no exemption. However, the architecture diagram and specification you prepared for the domestic filing can be resubmitted and are recognised. Attach the certificate under "Existing certifications" and the material prepared for it is taken into account.
How can we pay?
By card in USD through Stripe, or by domestic bank transfer for applicants in Korea. For bank transfer, the amount is converted at the standard rate on the day the instruction is issued and fixed as quoted, with three business days to complete the transfer. Receipts and electronic tax invoices are issued by SmileStory Co., Ltd., which conducts the verification and operations. The certificate itself is issued by WIA (World Certification Industry Association OÜ) in partnership with KAITRUST.
What is the refund policy?
A full refund is available at any time before the verification commences. Once verification has commenced, the fee is not refundable — the work has been performed. The point of commencement is stated in your receipt confirmation.
What is in the accessibility report?
An automated, WCAG-based scan of the product's web or app surface, delivered as an annex to the certificate, with per-item grades and improvement recommendations. It is not a pass/fail gate — it is a mandatory section of the report. Products with no web or app surface, such as on-premise or embedded systems, have this recorded as N/A on the certificate.
How long is the certificate valid, and how does renewal work?
Two years from the date of issue. The verification number remains checkable for the full period. A renewal scheme will be announced separately.
What does verification cost, and does it change?
GAV has three tiers. Standard covers documentary and evidence review; Deep adds remote validation of the running product; Live (Frontier Verification) adds a live remote verification session and is by application only. For 2026, Inaugural rates apply across every tier: USD 495 for Standard and USD 990 for Deep, guaranteed for applications received through 2026-12-31. From 2027-01-01 the standard rates of USD 990 and USD 1,980 apply — we would rather state that now than have it arrive as a surprise. Live starts from USD 25,000; scope is agreed in advance. KAITRUST Corporate Members pay USD 690 (Standard) or USD 1,390 (Deep), which becomes the operative benefit from 2027 since the Inaugural rates are more favourable during 2026. One rate applies per application.
